Have you been wondering how you can become an esthetician in the Ewing Township, New Jersey area? New Jersey is a fantastic place to begin your esthetics career. Not only is there a wide range of highly-ranked and respected salons and spas found all across the state to work in, New Jersey’s film and television industry are continuously growing and looking for new talent. You don’t have to go to New York City to find great opportunities. Below you’ll find some of the steps required to become a licensed esthetician.
Acquire an Esthetician License
Just like anything worthwhile, you have to work hard for it. Earning an esthetics license from an advanced technology program with hands-on experience can make you confident in your career path. In an esthetics program, you can learn things like:
- Business practices and job skills
- Makeup techniques
- Facial and body procedures
- Chemistry (skin care)
- Superfluous hair removal
- Structure/functions of skin
- Anatomy, nutrition and physiology
- Bacteriology, sterilization and sanitation
- Professionalism, health and safety
- State laws, regulations and rules
At Innovate Salon Academy, our Advanced Technology Program offers hands-on training in advanced techniques approved by the state of New Jersey. You can have the opportunity to practice these skills as well, not just watch a demo. We even provide Biotherapeutic hand-held electrical tools in our student kits! Our students can learn advanced therapies like:
- Light Therapy
- Electrical Modalities
- Lactic Peels
- Glycolic Peels
- Enzyme Peels
- Advanced Certifications
The best place to start is a program. We offer our very own esthetics program where you can work toward obtaining your license!
When selecting a program, students should ask about the product partnerships, what services they’ll be able to perform, and what certifications they can get. After putting in your required 600 hours, your next step to becoming a licensed esthetician will be to pass both the written and practical exam. These exams will include testing your knowledge of the following.
- EPA/OSHA requirements
- Salon management
- Salon ethics
- Client protection
- Infection control/bacteriology
Applied anatomy and physiology:
- Skeletal, circulatory, nervous and muscular systems
- Conditions, diseases and disorders
- Growth and regeneration
- Structure and function
- New Jersey Regulations and Laws
Innovate Salon Academy Partnerships
We have partnerships with Dermalogica and the National Laser Institute which can help our students get more out of their education. These partnerships allow students the chance to get real-world practice with modern tools and products. We also get to take field trips to help get real-world exposure. We will take monthly field trips to places like Ulta, Hand in Stone, European Wax Centers, and more! We also take trips to the big city where students from South Plainfield can visit the Dermal Institute in NYC, and Ewing students can visit King of Prussia in PA. We feel strongly that these partnerships help our students get more out of their education than the typical course work.
