Meet the Staff – Sue Amorosi Guido

Many people who visit Innovate Salon Academy for the first time say they experience a vibe that they don’t encounter at other beauty schools or salons. Most describe it as being exciting, positive, and all around happy! Our Staff Spotlight this month shines on Susan Guido (Sue to all our Innovate friends and family). Sue is the Director of Operations at both South Plainfield and Ewing locations. Sue plays a huge part in making Innovate Salon Academy a bright and exuberant place for everyone there, both students and staff. Innovate wouldn’t be the same without her positive daily influence and hard work!
About Sue
Sue developed a love for the beauty industry at a very early age. She enrolled in beauty school shortly after graduating high school, and has had a career in the industry every since then! She has been a cosmetologist for 27 years, and has been a beauty school educator for 26 of those years as well. Her whole adult life has been dedicated to all things beauty! She is also a New Jersey state board exam proctor, so she’s very capable of training students to take the state board exam because of her experience proctoring the exam!
Sue’s Role at Innovate Salon Academy
Sue is the director of operations at the South Plainfield location. Her job is to make sure that everything is running smoothly at the school day to day. She solves problems, resolves conflicts, and strives to keep energy and enthusiasm up. She is the kind of person that is everywhere at once and helps make Innovate such a vibrant place to work and learn!
Why Sue Loves Innovate Salon Academy
When asked about her life at Innovate Salon Academy, Sue couldn’t say enough positive things! As someone who worked in a “mom and pop” cosmetology school herself, she could see the difference at Innovate:
”We are not your run-of-the-mill beauty school, We are very proud of the professionals we are putting out in the work force. We are extremely innovative, we try to stay on trend, to teach our students to be innovative. It’s important to be able to work in a salon and get all those extra details that other schools keep out.”
Sue genuinely loves Innovate because she feels like she is making a difference in the beauty industry and preparing students to be successful cosmetologists, estheticians, and barbers after graduation.
Advice for Future Students
When asked what advice she would give to potential cosmetology school students, Sue says:
“You shouldn’t wait another day! Jump in with both feet and get started. Some people like to procrastinate and say that the time isn’t right to enroll in beauty school, but students usually regret putting it off. Get started right away!”
